4-star historic harbour hotel with private boater access

Accommodations

The Greenbank Hotel offers 69 spacious rooms with nautical decor and harbour views. The Lookout Suite includes a balcony overlooking the Fal, a king-size bed, and a large bathroom with both a bathtub and a rainfall shower. Family accommodations include rooms with bunk beds, while dog-friendly rooms provide pet treats, bowls, and a toy upon arrival.

Dining

The Harbourside Restaurant, a Two-AA Rosette venue, serves a daily menu focused on locally-sourced seafood and offers panoramic views of Falmouth Harbour. The Working Boat pub, located on the jetty under the hotel, serves casual pub food with generous portions and hosts regular community events. The bar offers an innovative cocktail menu made with local ingredients and a collection of rare spirits.

Boater Facilities

The Greenbank is the only hotel in the South West that provides private pontoons for guests arriving by boat. A jetty with mooring for small boats sits directly outside the hotel, offering direct access to Falmouth Harbour. The hotel also provides an electric vehicle charging station and free parking in a garage.

Location

The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the Cornwall Maritime Museum and a 5-minute drive from Falmouth Golf Club. Pendennis Castle is nearby, and the hotel sits on the sea wall with views of Falmouth Harbour and the Roseland peninsula. The hotel is within walking distance of Falmouth's shops, galleries, and restaurants.

Additional Services

The hotel provides 24-hour front desk service, daily room maintenance, and luggage storage. Laundry, dry cleaning, and ironing services are available, along with meeting and banquet facilities. Pet bowls are provided for dogs, and the hotel has a designated smoking area and a shared lounge with a TV area.

Highlights

Facilities: Only South West hotel with private boater pontoons

Dining: Two-AA Rosette seafood restaurant with harbour views

Rooms: Lookout Suite with balcony and harbour view

History: Dating from 1640, oldest hotel in Falmouth

Family: Rooms with bunk beds and dog-friendly options

“What struck me most is the history here, dating back to the 17th century, blended with a genuine warmth that extends to both two-legged and four-legged guests. The fact that you can arrive by boat and step directly onto their private pontoons is quite unique. I also appreciate a restaurant that champions local seafood with such dedication; plus, the pub scene seems genuinely lively.”

rushed service overcooked egg
The breakfast service was a bit disappointing. i had to book a time slot in advance, and even then, the service felt rushed. my egg arrived looking rather sad, it was overcooked and not very appealing. also, the room wasn't cleaned until quite late in the day. The excuse was the high number of departures, but it was still inconvenient.

Really good stay with attention to detail

fresh milk real ale lovely breakfast
The room offered fresh milk for morning tea and coffee. Breakfast and dinner were lovely. The bar provided a nightcap with a view overlooking the estuary. Staff members were very approachable and knowledgeable. I appreciated the real ale selection... Sea Fury was particularly notable. The breakfast was excellent.
I noticed dead flies on the window sill in the bar. Cigarette butts littered the hotel terrace floor. Tables in the pub needed cleaning.
